Associated Schools

Origin and Establishment

A number of Qatari schools joined the global network of schools Associated with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in response to the fundamental principles set by the Constitution of the UNESCO, which declared that "since wars begin in the minds of men, it is in the minds of men that the defenses of peace must be constructed."

Qatar joined the network in 1983, with one school, namely: Doha Secondary School for Boys School. In 1989 more secondary and preparatory schools for boys and girls joined the network. By 2015, 28 boys' schools and 17 girls' schools from the three educational cycles (primary / preparatory / secondary) are UNESCO Associated schools in Qatar.
