 The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO)

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) is a specialized agency of the United Nations (UN), based in Paris, the Republic of France. UNESCO was founded on 16 November 1945. UNESCO has 195 member states. Its purpose is to promote international collaboration in educational, scientific and cultural areas to achieve international peace, safeguard the common interests of human race, provide opportunities for education for all and to ensure free exchange of ideas and knowledge. UNESCO's aim is to contribute to the building of peace, the eradication of poverty and fulfillment of Sustainable Development Goals.

UNESCO is headed by a Director-General and its organizational structure is composed of the General Conference, the Executive Board, and the Secretariat General. UNESCO has over 150 field offices and institutes around the world.
